Arete Awards Selection Committee

Chair: Pam Rector

This committee grants the Arête award to senior students who have volunteered for 300 hours or more during their tenure at LMU. 

Community of Care Team

Chair: Paul Vu

The purpose of the Community of Care Team (COCT) is to review and address academic and behavioral concerns, ensure a systematic response to students whose behaviors may be disruptive or harmful to themselves or the LMU community and to assist in protecting the safety and well-being of students and other members of the LMU community.

Committee on Diversity and Inclusion

Chair: Jade Smith

This committee examines diversity and inclusion across the Division of Student Affairs, develops recommendations for policies, practices, procedures and training to further improve access and equality for students.

Composting Workgroup

Chair: Trevor Wiseman

The goal of the Composting Workgroup is to establish a food waste diversion system to gain zero waste certification.

Ignatian Heritage Month Committee

Co-Chairs: Steve Nygaard and Jim Erps

The purpose of the Committee is to bring a greater understanding of and appreciation for LMU’s Ignatian Heritage to our students through the coordination of three weeks of activities and information each year during the month of November.

Intercultural Community Advancement Advisory Council

Chair: Jade Smith

The Intercultural Community Advancement Advisory Council (ICAAC) serves as an advisory council to the Director of Ethnic and Intercultural Services regarding the implementation of the departmental strategic plan, assists in identifying and disseminating best practices that address intercultralism and issues of social justice to campus constituents, discuss student concerns and provide strategies to address them, and serve as a mechanism for exchange on information regarding student affairs and academic affairs interculturalism efforts. 

Interfaith Committee

Chair: Jade Smith

This committee explores various faith traditions across the campus in order to discover positive and meaningful interactions and dialogue between them.  This is a working committee that develops, implements and collaborates to create interfaith programming and training for students and staff.

LMU EXP Animation Team

The purpose of the LMU EXP Animations Teams is to operationalize and embed the five pillars of the LMU EXP across the Division of Student Affairs and within departmental units.

LMU EXP Awards Committee

Planning committee for the LMU EXPY Awards – a celebration of our student successes. A joint effort between various departments within the Division of Student Affairs.

New Staff Orientation Workgroup

Chair: Pam Burrill

Plan and participate in annual New Staff orientation for new student affairs staff.

Riordan Awards Selection Committee

Chair: Pam Rector

This committee selects six students award recipients who have had a significant commitment with one organization; a minimum of 30 hours in one semester. 

Senior Student Leadership Selection Awards Committee

Student Service & Leadership Award application reading and selection committee.

Sexual Assault Campus Climate Work Group

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

Coordinates the organization, implementation and evaluation of a sexual assault climate survey to be implemented in Spring 2017.

Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct Team

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

Reviews the sexual and interpersonal misconduct process, to identity aspects of the process that are well implemented, and clarify areas of improvement.

Sober Living Work Group

Chair: Francesca Piumetti

This group is looking into current resources at LMU and making a recommendation to SVPSA for a plan to create or expand on a LMU Collegiate Recovery Community.

Staff Climate Work Group

Chair: Jade Smith

This committee was originally created to determine the overall staff climate of the Division and make recommendations for possible measures for improvement. The committee analyzed staff climate survey results as they pertained to Student Affairs Staff and conducted further research of staff climate.  The committee analyzed patterns of success and areas of improvement.  The committee recommend improvement measures and is in the process of implementing those recommendations.

Student Affairs Critical Incidents Team

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

Respond to unpredictable situations or incidents which occur within the university community including such things as student death, and violent, threatening and/or disruptive behavior. The CIT coordinates intervention with the Community of Concern Committee and the Student Threat Assessment Team.  Additionally, CIT reviews policies and procedures related to unpredictable incidents, revises and engages best practice responses.

Student Affairs Mission and Ministry Committee

Chair: Paul Vu

Provides environments, programs and experiences which promote staff growth and development of the mind and spirit and to instill in staff the value of service and engage in collaboration with broader LMU community.

Student Affairs Policy Committee

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

The Student Affairs Policy Committee is a standing Student Affairs Committee authorized by the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs to coordinate the development and review of Student Affairs policies.  In particular, the Student Affairs Policy Committee is charged to review all new or revised Student Affairs policies to ensure that policies have been developed in collaboration and consultation with the appropriate constituencies.

Student Affairs Research and Assessment Committee

Chair: Laura Monje-Paulson

The Division of Student Affairs at LMU is committed to the practice of excellence through the process of continuous improvement. To this end, the Student Affairs Research and Assessment Committee (SARAC) represents and advises the Division in assessment and research aimed at supporting a culture of intentional inquiry.  

Student Affairs Resource Administrators

Co-Chairs: Francesca Piumetti and Shannon Taylor

The SARAs provide support and resources to students dealing with a SIM violation.  SARAs are assigned to both complainant and respondents in SIM cases.

Undocumented Student Advisory Committee

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

To monitor, recommend and initiate activities to support the educational experience of undocumented students on LMU’s campus.

University Housing License Agreement Release Board

Chair: Beth Crowell

The University Housing License Agreement Release Board serves to meet with students who are seeking to be released from their housing License Agreement, assess each situation and determine if it is in the best interest of the student to be released from their License Agreement.  

University Student Affairs Committee

Chair: Jeanne Ortiz

The Committee on Student Affairs shall advise and assist the Vice President for Student Affairs in establishment of policies and the regulations concerning the co-curricular areas of student life.

Women’s History Month Committee

Chair: Shannon Taylor

The Women's Herstory Month committee promotes the history and progress of women while supporting and publicizing university-wide programs for students throughout the month of March.
