Student Health Services office is located on the first floor of the F. Patrick Burns Center (located on the north side of the Burns Recreation building).



 Katie Arce, MPH, MSN, FNP-BC, CDE,
Director of Student Health Services
Family Nurse Practitioner
Katharine Arce joined the LMU Student Health Services ‌ as the Director in 2004. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare. She holds a Masters Degree in both Nursing and Public Health and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. In addition, Ms. Arce is an adjunct professor in the Department of Health and Human Sciences, Seaver College of Science and Engineering. Her professional interests include patient education, empowerment, advocacy and preventive medicine. She is married and lives in Westchester with her husband and several adopted weimaraners.
   Daniel Hyslop, MD, MFA
Medical Director
Daniel Hyslop did his undergraduate work at University of Nebraska in Lincoln Nebraska. He attended medical school at the University of ­­Nebraska College of Medicine and did residency training in Internal Medicine at Michigan State University. Having completed an MFA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University in 2001, he is now writing and someday hopes to direct. He is married and has two children. He enjoys the outdoors, photography and ultimate frisbee. His devotion to LMU began in 1988 but his heart will always belong to the Cornhuskers.
   Ira Holt, BA, MPA
Operations Manager
Ira received his Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University in political science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.  He has worked 35 years in health care management in the areas of financial management and ambulatory health care. He has worked as the operations manager at Student Health Services since 2010.
   Martha Mares
Administrative Assistant III
Martha Mares, Administrative Assistant III, has been a member of the LMU Student Health Services team since 2007.  She has worked in the  medical field since graduating college and has extensive customer service experience. She enjoys traveling, is married, and has three sons and one grandchild.
   Keith Chandler, RT
X-Ray Technologist
Keith Chandler joined the Student Health Center staff in January 1996 after completing his studies at Saul Heiser School of Radiology at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital. He is the Radiology Technologist at Student Health Services. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at LMU. He has a son and currently resides in Westchester.
   Jayne Mas, NP, MSN
Assistant Director
Nurse Practitioner
Jayne Mas has been with LMU since 1997. She holds bachelors degrees in zoology and in nursing. Her graduate work was completed at the University of San Diego. She completed the California AIDS Ride and has volunteered on the medical crew. Jayne has been recognized by the campus community for her outstanding service and commitment to quality.

Cindy Nakasuji, CPNP
Nurse Practitioner    

Cindy Nakasuji has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for over 10 years. She completed her undergraduate studies in animal physiology and neuroscience at UC San Diego. She received her bachelor and master degrees in nursing from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to working as a nurse practitioner, she was a RN in infectious disease. Cindy is married with two children and enjoys cooking, crafting, and spending time with family.

 ‌  Kathleen J. Neville, RN, BSN
Clinical Nurse Supervisor
Kathleen Neville received an Associate of Arts degree in Nursing from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cal State University Los Angeles.  Her nursing career has enabled her to travel and experience varied aspects of the health care field.  She made her way to LMU in 2002 and quickly found a home working with the students. She was born in Idaho and became a California transplant in the late 1960s. Since then she has become convinced that living near the ocean is a necessity. Kathy is married and has two daughters.
   Ivonne Pagel
Registered Nurse
Ivonne Pagel joined the LMU Student Health Services in 2011 as a Registered Nurse. She attended Los Angeles Harbor College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Additionally, she has a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the Colegio Universitario De Psycopedagogia Extension Carabobo in Venezuela. Ivonne is married with two children and enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Carolyn Jackson
Medical Assistant
Carolyn Jackson joined the Student Health Center Team in May of 2009. Carolyn studied at Bryman College where she was trained to become a Certified Medical Assistant / Limited X-Ray Technician. Carolyn worked in the Health Center of United Airlines before transiting to LMU. Carolyn has worked as a Medical Assistant for the past 12 years. Carolyn holds an A.A in Business Management/Health Care. Carolyn is a native to Los Angeles, a mother of 6 children, and enjoys time at home with the family.

Shantay Pierre
Medical Assistant
Shantay is from Los Angeles but lived for ten years in Belize with her younger sister.  She studied at the  American Career College where she became a Certified Medical Assistant.  She has worked in the medical field the last 13 years, and has been with LMU for the past 4 ½ years.  She has a daughter and enjoy baking and crocheting.
