Real World Skills with Lion Sports Media
More than just great sports, LMU Athletics provides hands-on training in sports media production, covering blow by blow Lion action!
LMU Athletics' media students gain valuable hands on industry experience at home games and working side by side with ESPN broadcast crews.
When you enjoy an LMU basketball game at Gersten Pavilion, you probably don’t think about who plays the music or operates the cameras to give you the vivid audio, images, and graphics you see on on the video board or television. You may be surprised to learn that that professional looking broadcast is produced by our own students who run the operations at LMU Athletic events.
LMU Athletics employs a number of work study students who get opportunities to run various areas of college game production that many college students don't get while still in school. From running the games and radio announcing, to video production and editing, LMU Athletics’ work study students get the chance to experience “real world” sports radio, television, and video production, typically gained only through competitive internships - without having to leave campus!
