SSLA Awards Convocation

On Friday, April 19, 2013, the Student Service & Leadership Awards Convocation was hosted by the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Lane Bove, in Sacred Heart Chapel.  Each year, the SSLA Convocation recognizes LMU’s top student leaders, who have been nominated, apply, and are selected by a committee of Student Affairs professionals.

At the ceremony, 65 individuals and two student-run organizations were presented with awards. Among them were current and former Presidents and Vice Presidents of student organizations, Loyolan editors, EMTs, Christian Life Community leaders, and many more. The most prestigious awards, the Fr. Robert Graham, S.J. Alumni Awards, given to a graduating senior male and female for exceptional service and leadership throughout their entire undergraduate careers, were presented to Gino Altamura (Screenwriting, Theology double major; Campus Ministry Master of Ceremonies) and Christine Kilicarslan (English Literature major; Student Worker General).

Upon reception of their award plaques, all winners had the opportunity to take a picture with President David Burcham. Family, friends, and LMU Staff came together as a community to recognize the nominees and recipients alike. Immediately following the convocation, there was a reception in Sculpture Garden, where nominees and recipients were congratulated personally.

Congratulations to all nominees and recipients!
