About Resident Ministry
Education of the whole person is a hallmark of Jesuit higher education and, at LMU, you will have the opportunity to learn both in and outside the classroom. As a member of our residential community, Resident Ministers will challenge you to gain a better understanding of yourself, your purpose and passions in life, and how to adopt a lifestyle that reflects a balance of spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual health. RM's are priests, sisters and lay ministers who live in your community and are a great resource to help you explore your faith and provide guidance on your spiritual journey. They facilitate social and spiritual programming, coordinate and lead community service projects, and provide individual support and assistance. Their doors are open for you to drop by for informal conversation and an easy break from study.
Resident Ministers strive to create an environment in our halls where faith can be celebrated, the promotion of justice encouraged and the spiritual journey explored. They serve as a supportive presence for our residents in normal day-to-day life but especially in times of need. Whether it's the transition from home, important milestones, a bittersweet graduation celebration, or just being present for the everyday routines of life, RM's are there. This is the cura personalis that St. Ignatius of Loyola required for those charged with the work of "caring for souls." RM's are honored and blessed to do this ministry work, journeying with our residents.
