Personal Trainers are available to Burns Recreation Center members for a minimal fee. All Personal Trainers are AFAA (Aerobic & Fitness Association of America), ACE (American Council of Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) or NCSF (National Council on Strength & Fitness) certified.

My name is Mia Rand and I am a NASM certified personal trainer. I am a senior accounting major at LMU and I love health and fitness. I have always been active from a very young age. I played competitive volleyball for 10 years and ran track in high school. However, my true love for health and fitness developed in the last two years when I began lifting weights and training for a half marathon. To me, health and fitness goes far beyond the physical. The gym is my happy place where I can just be myself. The gym has given me an escape from the stress and difficulties of everyday life. I cannot wait for the opportunity to share my greatest passion with you and help you reach your health and fitness goals! My name is Christian "CJ" Stone. I am a senior Political Science and Psychology major. Fitness has been a long journey in my life that started with team sports including football, soccer, rugby, lacrosse, swim, and water polo. My love for sports came to a stop with many injuries to my knees and back. However, these injuries are what led me to fitness training. I have been weight training for 4 years now with expertise is muscle building, rehabilitation, and weight loss. I believe in living a well-rounded healthy life style that fitness can be added to. It's not the cure to an unhealthy lifestyle but it can help how you feel, look, and think about your life!

My name is Tyler Mucci and I am a senior majoring in Entrepreneurship. I grew up playing soccer all my life and have since developed a deep passion for health and fitness. My goal is to create a business that inspires people to not only tackle long term fitness goals, but to also realize their potential and grow as people. I constantly look to expand my understanding of the body in relation to fitness and look to pursue graduate school for Kinesiology. Training has always been a goal of mine, as it allows me to teach and learn from clients of all ages and capabilities. I especially enjoy training a variety of clients and am eager to help others pursue their goals. I have specialties working with clients who play sports, have suffered prior injuries, and/or clients looking to get stronger and leaner.

Sean Pontikos

Hi! My name is Sean Pontikos and I am an NCSF certified trainer and junior Film and Television Production major. Fitness may not seem part of the package of an artsy film student but I believe that fitness is a universal activity that everyone can partake in. I learnt this valuable lesson after transforming my own self where, at 18 years old, I realized that I felt incredibly insecure about my body. At first I wasn’t sure what to do but I decided to contact a personal trainer. After a few months I had put on 20 pounds of muscle and felt way more confident about myself and my health. I then realized that in fact anyone, no matter who it is, can achieve their goals and incorporate fitness into their lifestyle. I became a personal trainer to inspire people to feel confident in themselves. If you are reading this and feel that you have a goal you want to achieve, then I am here to motivate you to success. I believe that anything is possible with the right mindset, and under my certification from the National Council of Strength and Fitness, I feel I can provide you the best trainer to client experience, where no goal is impossible!

Michael Mckenney

My name is Michael Mckenney and I am a sophomore majoring in Communications. My passion for health and fitness developed largely in high school where I participated in wrestling, cross country, and track for 4 years. Upon graduation, I began searching for a new outlet, and discovered one of my biggest passions as I began competing in local bodybuilding shows. I’ve always had a smaller frame, but I found that with positive encouragement and a desire to shape the best version of my own physique; I was able to win first place in the lightweight category in my first show. I since have developed a strong passion for nutrition and strength training, and coupled this with a certification from the National Council of Strength and Fitness. I am immensely excited to share what I have come to learn thus far with anyone who desires to live a healthier and well balanced lifestyle. Additionally, I have no doubt that I will thus be inspired by the hard work that comes from you as a result of this pursuit. I firmly believe that fitness should be both enjoyable and sustainable, and I am thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to work with you, and shape a program that best serves your needs!
