  • Employer Name: Jacqueline Phillips
  • Employer Location: Santa Monica
  • Employer Email Address:
  • Employer Phone Number: (480) 241-7284
  • Job Description: Seeking a responsible, reliable student with childcare experience to be an occasional babysitter for our sweet 11-month-old daughter. Babysitting would be mostly on weekend evenings. We are in Santa Monica and would appreciate references from previous/current families you sit for. Thank you!

Household Manager/Babysitter

  • Employer Name: Kerry Wallis
  • Employer Location: Hermosa Beach
  • Employer Email:
  • Employer Phone Number: (310) 850-9765
  • Job Description: 1. Taxi Driver: must be a safe driver, and very capable of driving our Suburban or your car to shuttle the kids soccer, lessons, youth group, appointments, etc. 2. Homework Monitor: must be able to keep kids focused and organized to get work done. Not a lot of help is needed with the actual homework itself, but must review homework to make sure it was done correctly, and must redirect kids to make sure they are staying on task. Developing good habits and consistency are the focus here. Being flexible to try new approaches to homework and jobs is also important. 3. Job Enforcer: doesn’t have to do a lot around the house, just some light cleanup (e.g., dishes in dishwasher, counters swiped, and quick sweep of floor) or something like that, but must be good about making sure kids pick up after themselves, follow the routines, take care of their own stuff, and do their own jobs. The goal is to make sure the house does not end worse than when you first saw it, and generally should be relatively well picked up. The goal is just not to be embarrassed if someone looks through the windows or stops by. 4. Odd Job Completer: sometimes there will be down time when there is no one to watch, so should be willing to do random jobs requested like shopping for groceries, organizing refrigerator, renaming computer files, organizing books on bookshelf, organizing junk drawer, organizing kids' craft area, etc. (note the theme...). 5. Food Assembler/Prepper: I often need help throwing some food in the oven or unloading the bags from the farmer's market. "Cooking" would be too generous of a description of what needs to be done, but there is generally a need for help in the mix-a-bag-of-salad-together, put-the-frozen-chicken-in-the-oven, wash and cut-the-veggies/fruit kind of way. General Context: The kids are sweet and very self-sufficient. They need good-natured supervision, with help getting where they need to go. We want someone who is fun, firm, and enjoys kids. We smile a lot, and want someone who does the same. Keeping the schedule going and helping out where needed are the big priorities. We need help two days a week, but days are somewhat flexible for the right person. We prefer Mondays and Wednesdays. But, if you are the right fit, and your best days are Mondays and Thursdays, we can do that. Or Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We just don’t need help on Friday. Usual hours are 3:00 to 7:00 pm. $20-$22 /hour

  • Job Description: Hello LMU, I am a doctoral student in Educational Leadership at LMU looking to support my dissertation research with a series of long form, robust Instastories which actively engage viewers. I am looking for someone who is proficient in using all of the features available in Instastory, that is, creating swipe ups, polls, animations, pop-up words, etc. Basically, you'd be helping me maximize the features of Instagram, and you have expertise in the apps that leverage Instagram. For now, you would function as someone doing a gig, but the hope is that I can call you on for gigs in the future depending on how the research progresses. Qualifications: You are a very creative and collaborative person with a spirited life of Instastories and video content. You are also very patient with elder millennials, like myself! You probably aspire to a social media/video content-based career in the future. Your fee for this gig is open for discussion. Feel free to DM me if you are interested @ayyotv. Thank you!

Part-time Nanny for Special Needs Child

  • Employer Name: Anupama Garla
  • Employer Location: Santa Monica
  • Employer Email:
  • Employer Phone Number: (510) 833-0561
  • Job Description: Start ASAP. Monday-Friday 12:15-5:45, car desired but not needed. Sundays 8:30-4:30. 1 date night/month - Saturday 6 pm-midnight. Coverage of partial days is also possible. Job Duration - these hours until summer, then expanded hours, and similar hours during next school year. Pay rate - $15-20/hr. depending on fit. Responsibilities: Pick up my son from school and drive him to his various therapies, and drive him around for a nap. Once he wakes, calm him and bring him inside the house or to the playground. Play with him, provide snacks and light cooking, help him tidy any messes. He may be having in-home therapy in the afternoon so assisting this therapist may also be a role to fulfill. Provide information to and from therapists, and specialized care for my son. My son is nearly 5 years-old, and on the mod-severe Autism Spectrum, is non-verbal, and has sensory processing disorder. He requires constant and careful supervision in order to be safe, and learn to function better in this world. A specialized and important task will be to provide Aided Language Stimulation with his speech generating device, an ipad with the app, LAMP words for life. He has a tendency to run without caution of cars or people, so you must hold his hand at all times when transferring from the car to a building. He is potty trained but must be prompted by being taken to the potty once every hour. His taste is under-sensitive, so he likes very spicy, salty, or sweet foods, and freshly cooked ideally. Sensitivity to my son’s needs is a must, as he cannot always communicate them. Patience, interest, intelligence, and care are all required to help my son grow and function. I would like you to give my son a chance to help himself, and if he is having trouble, to help him follow through something by breaking down the steps, or as a last resort, physical assistance. At his best, my son is sweet, loving, happy, and compliant. At his worst, he cries and screams for no known reason, and can bite or pinch out of sensory needs. At especially challenging times, he needs patience, love, energy, and clear demands. Reliability and punctuality is imperative. Family Culture: We are a family of four with high stress, but lots of love. We like to respect each other and everyone around us, and hope for the same from others. We are architects and designers, and have a love for drawing, building, and thinking. We enjoy being around others who are similarly thoughtful. My husband works downtown, and I work from home/ a café. Most of the time I will not be home, but there may be occasions where I am home, or where I need to communicate in person with his therapists and will be present. We are pretty tech-savvy and would like someone who is also that way, especially in regards to my son’s speech generating device. Location: Santa Monica school (16th and California) and home (Lincoln and Montana), therapies in Santa Monica (Pico and 14th), West LA (Westwood and Santa Monica Blvd., and Westwood (UCLA Semel Institute), and Reed Park. Required Documents: A clean driving record, valid driver’s license, background check, first aid certification, and CPR certification is required. Access to your own vehicle is ideal. Experience with small children and special needs would be phenomenal. Job Preferences: A student or young professional that is studying psychology, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, special education, or theater would be ideal. A good singer is a plus!
