Please check the Department of State’s COVID-19 related guidance and COVID-19 Country Specific Information.

Loyola Marymount University is designated to serve as Program Sponsor by the U.S. Department of State, thereby enabling us to issue Form DS-2019, Certificate of Eligibility, to prospective Exchange Visitors.

Our goal is to increase mutual understanding between people of the United States and people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges, thereby strengthening the ties between the nations.

The Exchange Visitor (EV) may participate in studies, research, and teaching. They may also receive training in EV categories under student, non-degree student, professor, research scholar, short-term scholar, and specialist, to promote international education and cultural exchange.

Loyola Marymount University undertakes substantial responsibility and liability as an official sponsor of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program as authorized by the U.S. Department of State.

Faculty sponsors and host departments also assume considerable responsibility and liability when inviting an international scholar to participate in an LMU academic or research program. The host department must verify all requirements pertaining to the Exchange Visitor and finds this exchange an educational benefit to LMU.
