The safety and well-being of our students is of utmost important to Loyola Marymount University, and the LMU takes all reports of sexual and interpersonal misconduct extremely seriously.
We expect our students to treat themselves and their peers in a manner that is consistent with the values of the Lion’s Code and in alignment with the Student Conduct Code, and we have zero tolerance for all forms of sexual misconduct and interpersonal misconduct.
The University also commits itself to providing support and resources to all students that report experiencing acts of sexual or interpersonal misconduct.
What is Sexual Misconduct?
At LMU, sexual misconduct includes all forms of sexual harassment listed under Title IX, including:
- Sexual violence
- Sexual assault
- Sexual battery
- Sexual coercion
- Sexual exploitation
- Unwelcome intrusion into another’s sexual seclusion or privacy
What is Interpersonal Misconduct?
Interpersonal misconduct includes:
- Dating violence
- Domestic violence
Reporting Sexual & Interpersonal Misconduct
Any student alleged to have participated in either sexual misconduct or interpersonal misconduct will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct & Community Responsibility and, if found responsible, will be subject to disciplinary action. Possible sanctions include, but are not limited to, disciplinary warnings, fines, eviction from student housing, suspension and dismissal from the University.
LMU has established a Student-on-Student Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Misconduct Policy and Protocol to assist and respond to complaints of student-on-student sexual misconduct and interpersonal misconduct.
