Dear LMU Students,

I’m proud to welcome you to the 2026-27 academic year at LMU and to be serving as the interim dean of students and associate vice president. The beginning of a new academic year is always a time of excitement and possibility. As our community comes together once again, we welcome students returning from summer experiences around the world and those joining us from across the globe. I know these diverse, global perspectives enrich our campus and strengthen LMU's commitment to global learning and understanding.

Rooted in our Catholic, Jesuit, and Marymount traditions, LMU is committed to educating the whole person and preparing students to lead with knowledge, compassion, and purpose in an interconnected world. Our faculty and staff are here to support and challenge you as you pursue your academic goals, engage with new ideas, and make a positive impact in your communities and beyond.

  • LMU Community Standards – In order for everyone in the LMU community to live, work, and socialize safely together, we have standards that govern student behavior. Please become familiar with the LMU Community Standards, including the Student Conduct Code.
  • Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct – The university takes all allegations of sexual and interpersonal misconduct very seriously and investigates all such reported incidents. Please immediately report all incidents of sexual and interpersonal misconduct.
  • Good Samaritan Policy – At LMU, the safety and welfare of our students are our top priority, and I rely on each of you to care for our community. Please do not let your own indiscretions cause you not to report a potentially dangerous or illegal situation.
  • Hazing Prevention - Hazing has no place in our LMU community. Whether in student organizations, athletic teams, performance groups, or informal gatherings, each of us shares responsibility for recognizing, reporting, and preventing harmful behavior. Living our values means actively standing up for one another and choosing leadership rooted in respect and care.
  • Neighborhood – If you live at or near LMU, will be attending events in the neighborhood or are just walking through the neighborhood, please be mindful that you’re in a residential area. We ask that you be respectful and considerate of the neighbors around you by closely monitoring your noise level, especially late at night. Please review the Community Relations policy.

One of the best parts of the LMU experience is learning from the people around you. We encourage you to listen thoughtfully, engage respectfully, and be open to perspectives different from your own. Building understanding isn't always easy, but it's an important part of creating the welcoming and supportive Lion community we all value.
