Clinical Experiences/Interests:
Dr. Gallenson has delivered cognitive behavioral therapies and interpersonal approaches in a variety of settings including community mental health, intensive outpatient, residential treatment programs, hospital settings, and university counseling centers. He has expertise in treating substance abuse, mood and anxiety issues, crisis, identity, family concerns, intimate relationships, trauma, and resilience. Ben also has extensive knowledge managing ADHD, adjustment/transition concerns, and multicultural counseling. His specialties and interests include peer-delivered interventions, peer support research, behavioral medicine, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, trauma-focused protocols, and substance abuse. Ben enjoys working with young adults, college students, Veterans, and diverse communities. Ben works from a client-centered perspective which informs the integration of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. His identity as a queer clinician infuses a multicultural perspective into his work. Being an LMU alumni himself, Ben believes personal integration of thoughts, feelings, and choices are deeply enriching and critical components to an evolving self.
About the Staff Member:
Ben is an LMU alumni and identifies as part of the LGBT community. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, movies that make him laugh until his sides hurt, hikes, sunny beaches, tennis, theatre productions, and ice cream.
