Marianne is passionate about student wellness, supporting students as they navigate the exciting and sometimes challenging transition to college life. She believes that every individual brings their own unique lens and cultural background to experiences, and she strives to respect, value, and work towards understanding each person’s intersectional identity. Marianne’s therapeutic style is integrative, utilizing various approaches tailored to the individual needs of the students she supports. Her warm, collaborative approach emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship, where transparency and authenticity play vital roles. Marianne understands that the dynamic between therapist and student is essential for fostering growth and healing.
Marianne has various experiences working with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, complex trauma, relationship concerns, and family challenges. Marianne’s interests include working with people of diverse identities and cultural backgrounds, including individuals who identify as Asian, Asian-American, and first-generation students.
About the Staff Member:
She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Point Loma Nazarene University and completed her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego. She has trained and worked in various clinical settings, including a university counseling center in Boston, MA, during her internship year. When Marianne is not working, she is most likely at a music concert, spending quality time with friends and family, taking a scenic drive, or enjoying time at the beach.
