Dr Viviana Lucio Mahoney was born in Mexico City and was raised in Los Angeles, CA. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She is fluent in Spanish and has a special interest in working with diverse populations. Dr. Mahoney also assists young adults who are facing life transitions, such as building a career, strengthening one’s identity, and preparing the foundation forbeing in long-term relationships.
Dr. Mahoney has much experience working with adults who have anxiety and/or depression, grief and trauma. She stresses the importance of the mind-body connection and will help you build coping skills and examine interpersonal factors that might be contributing to your quality of life. Dr. Mahoney worked with veterans while on internship at the Jesse Brown VA hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Mahoney worked for three years as a Psychologist at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
Before joining Student Psychological Services at LMU in August, Dr. Mahoney was dedicated to seeing clients in her private practice for the past 6 years in Atlanta, Georgia.
