4.7.26 Support for You as an LMU Student

April 7, 2026

Dear LMU Student,

Last week, we as a community experienced the unexpected loss of Kallkidan Horlock, a senior psychology student. Kallikidan was a talented poet who valued her academic experience at LMU and was deeply committed to social justice issues.

This has been a challenging academic year for the LMU community and our global community. In the midst of these moments, I have witnessed our Lion community come together with compassion, care, and support for one another. As we begin our final weeks of the spring 2026 semester, I encourage you to find time to care for yourself and for each other. It is important to keep listening to each other and engaging in open and honest conversations.

In times like these, it’s hard to find the words to express the grief and sadness you may be experiencing. Please know that you are not alone. LMU has many resources and services available to support and assist you:

If you need support or you know someone who does, please reach out to the resources above to get help or make a referral to our Community of Care team. Our university community is here for you every step of the way.

Sincerely,

Terri L. Mangione, Ph.D.
