Assistant Director, Office for International Students and Scholars
As Assistant Director of OISS, Vanessa Silva creates and facilitates programs and workshops for the international community that supports the social, educational and professional success of international students. She’s part of the OISS advising team, assisting students and scholars on visa regulations, cultural adjustment, and campus resources. Silva also spearheads OISS’s systemic analysis initiatives, which assesses OISS’s programs and services with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. She holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of California and a master's degree in counseling psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University. Silva enjoys exploring the world, some of her favorite travel memories are bungee jumping Victoria Falls and hiking in beautiful Lombok, Indonesia. She loves connecting with people from different cultures, sharing stories, traditions and good food. In her spare time, she enjoys all things wellness, she is a hot yoga enthusiast, loves to get in a mid-day workout at the Burns Recreation gym, and meditates regularly.
