Welcome Back Events
OISS hosts a Welcome Back Dinner at the beginning of each semester as an opportunity for the international community, friends, and staff to enjoy a meal together and connect with old and new friends.
OISS hosts a total of eight webinars per academic year (one series in the fall and one series in the spring) detailing the processes for Optional Practical Training, Curricular Practical Training, and Post-Graduate Visa Options.
International Education Week
IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. IEW is celebrated internationally, including colleges and universities, embassies, international organizations, and community organizations. OISS observes this week by hosting a series of events celebrating the benefits of international education, cultural exchange, and highlighting the diversity international students bring to the LMU campus.
OISS collaborates across campus to showcase the diversity, traditions, and rich culture of many cultural holidays celebrated worldwide. Examples include Holi with the South Asian Student Association and Asian Pacific Student Services, Día de los Muertos with Chicane Latine Student Services, Lunar New Year with Asian Pacific Student Services, and more.
International Graduation Celebration
OISS hosts the annual International Graduation Celebration to honor the graduating class of international Lions. Family, friends, faculty, and staff come together for brunch to celebrate the accomplishments of our international students and the impact they have had on the Bluff. OISS also honors the Global Citizen and Ambassador awardees for being leaders of the international community during their time at LMU.
