Seaver College Living Learning Community (LLC) is a living-learning community program for first-year students in the Seaver College of Science and Engineering. The Seaver LLC is designed to further participants’ interest and success in pursuing careers in STEM.
Students enrolled in any major offered by the College of Science and Engineering are eligible to participate in the program.
Seaver LLC Experiences include:
- Living in the same dormitory residence during their first year at LMU.
- Enrolling in a 1-unit seminar together in the fall semester of their first year.
- Engaging in Co-curricular programs including community dinners, field trips around Los Angeles County, and science-oriented activities.
These components, along with co-curricular experiences on and off campus create a fully integrated learning experience for the students.
Residence Hall Experience
Students in the Seaver LLC program live in the same in Palm North. By living and taking classes together, the community members will have an opportunity to form bonds and friendships to tackle the challenging, yet rewarding coursework that lies ahead.
Seaver LLC participants have the opportunity to move in early to their dormitory residences, allowing them to settle in a day ahead of first-year students.
Los Angeles Experience
Past excursions included trips to some of Los Angeles' well-known nature science centers and areas of ecological interest including the Griffith Observatory, California Science Center, Ballona Wetlands, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. All co-curricular programs will be subject to local health authority guidelines.
Classroom Experience
Students take a one-unit seminar course together, which is offered exclusively to Seaver LLC participants. The seminar is designed to help students become fully engaged in university life, gain exposure to resources that will aid in their academic success, and explore their interests in the life sciences with their peers.
