Sitting alongside two other first-year residence halls, Whelan is a traditional-style, three-story building for first-year students on LMU’s north campus. Two students share a room with a community bathroom centrally located on each floor. As part of being a resident, students in Whelan fall under the theme community Los Angeles Experience, which allows students to participate in outings that help them explore the richness of Los Angeles. The building is named for former Loyola University president, Edward Whelan, SJ.
